Hat Patch Buying Guide

Leather

Full-grain look and feel, laser engraved for crisp detail. Best for premium, rugged, or heritage branding. Slight natural grain variation is normal and part of the character.

Leatherette

A consistent, budget-friendly alternative to leather with a clean matte finish. Great for large runs where uniform color matching matters more than natural texture.

Acrylic

Vibrant color fills and sharp edges, ideal for logos with fine linework or multiple colors. Durable and holds up well to repeated wash/wear cycles.

Lower Platen Temperature320°F
Upper Platen Temperature280°F
Press Time45 seconds
  • Always use a heat press with even platen pressure — hand irons can cause uneven adhesion.
  • Pre-press the hat panel for 3-5 seconds to remove moisture before applying the patch.
  • Use a Teflon sheet or parchment paper between the patch and the upper platen to protect the surface.
  • Let the patch cool fully before flexing or wearing the hat to lock in adhesion.
  • For washable goods, spot clean only — avoid high-heat dryers, which can loosen backing adhesive over time.
